Re. Hayes Co-sponsored US HR6607 which would direct the Dept. of Health and Human Services to use blockchain technology to track pharmaceutical drugs and other medical supplies: To direct the Secretary of Health and Human Services to establish, in coordination with the Director of the strategic national stockpile, the National Emergency Biodefense Network, and for other purposes. This bill requires the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to establish, and award grants to states for the implementation of, the National Emergency Biodefense Network. HHS must coordinate with the Strategic National Stockpile and the National Biodefense Science Board in this effort. The network consists of state entities responsible for tracking and maintaining adequate supplies of drugs, medical devices, and other items necessary for the emergency health security of the United States. The network must be developed and implemented using a private blockchain (i.e., a distributed ledger technology).
